Minutes of General Meeting
July 13, 2010

Welcome

  • Our meeting was preceded by a social hour that included fish or shrimp tacos, homemade sourdough bread, mango cider or beer, and lively conversation.  When the meeting began, all were welcomed.

Old Business

  • Emergency telephone numbers have been posted on the Amigos website. Check it out as there have been recent updates. Again, thank you to the Security Committee for initiating this information.

Treasurer's Report

  • Our current balance is approximately $42,000p of which $27,000p is held by Chairpeople. Amigos Committees have completed half of their approved projects and spent an equal amount of the budget ($105,000p). To complete the remaining projects, Amigos needs to raise more funds. Calendar sales will contribute to the shortfall but more ideas and/or donations are needed

Delegado / President Report

  • Luis, general manager at Tlaquepaque Hotel and Resort, has been told that the government cleanup of the waterways will not happen this year. Nor will the government allow tractors to cross the beach and open the waterways. Therefore, Tlaquepaque is organizing a river cleanup this Saturday morning. If you'd like to participate, meet in their lobby at 8:00am.

Committee Reports

  • Schools

  • Health Clinic

The first case of dengue fever has been reported in Puerto Vallarta, and Lupita Meza is concerned that the local spraying has not yet happened. Nestor, the delegado, doesn't know if it's coming this year. In the past, a truck has sprayed around town and small airplanes have sprayed the valley from the air. Last week, a crew of people visited homes and inoculated the wells. David agreed to talk with Nestor.

  • Drainage

The recent water testing report was given to Luis, at Tlaquepaque, who was happy to receive it and very pleased with the results.

Because the last report was fairly clean and because we have not had very much rainwater yet, the test scheduled for July may be postponed until November.

  • Recycle

Monica O'Sullivan will begin driving the plastic collection route this Friday.  Filemon and his daughter are the local workers.  Tyler Henshaw and David will drive their last routes of the season this Friday.  We currently have 25 jumbo bags waiting for pickup

  • Sports

  • Officers Discretionary Fund

  • Fundraising

The Committee had their first planning meeting. In attendance were Sasha Lannon Kenny, Mitch Schilling, and Jacque Graff. The next fundraiser will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2011. The format will be expanded to include a walkathon in the morning and an earlier start in the evening. We will have one band for the musical entertainment and the Taste of Lo de Marcos will be repeated. Sasha is working on a new poster and the committee plans to display it early, as was done last year.

It was suggested that the rummage sale be conducted in the morning after the walkathon to allow more time for shopping.

The committee is always happy to hear your comments and suggestions. Please email us at fundraiser@amigosdelodemarcos.org. Thank you!

New Business
