Minutes of General Meeting
May 13, 2008


Welcome

  • Juan Ventura and Gema Castellan were acknowledged as new to our meeting and joined Amigos.
  • No new items were added to the agenda.

Old Business

  • Officers election in January, 2009
  • Riviera Nayarit Tourism office is coming to clean the river

    Pictures of dumping areas in town and along the river were taken and sent to Hector at the Tourism office so he can see the amount of work to be done by his crews

    Lupita will invite Hector to look at areas prior to the cleaning day

    The cleaning date is tentatively scheduled for May 31

    We will discuss future procedures with Hector. If we designate a temporary area for dumping, where should it be?

    Juan and Gema raised issues of dumping construction materials and trash on sidewalks that school children have to walk around

  • Place for Meeting

    We will have our next meeting at San Marcos Restaurant. We hope this will be our permanent location. Details will be finalized with Oscar

  • Jacque reported we have approximately 37,000 pesos

    Ana asked a Sayulita resident to discuss their recycling program at one of our future meetings

    David reported our official website - www.amigosdelodemarcos.org and reviewed information that the website will contain

New Business

  • Brochures

    Ana provided a draft of our Amigos brochure that describes the organization, provides contact information, and important telephone numbers

    Brochures will be reviewed and finalized

  • Committee Guidelines

    David reviewed the guidelines that will be published on our website

Other Items from the Floor

  • Town Water Pump

    Juan Ventura reported that Lo de Marcos has purchased a new water pump and expects the pump to be installed within the next couple of months

    Werner reported that if another pump is needed he may be able to acquire a new pump at a discount through his old company in the States

  • Werner suggested that Amigos should advertise in the Jaltemba Sol - it is free and would spread the word about our organization
  • Werner bought up the idea of another fund-raiser for local residence that we could have this summer before the rain
