Garbage
The construction of two movable trash collection sites has been completed except for the painting and roofs. They can be viewed in the street in front of Ron's Trailer Park. We are awaiting a location designation.
We have placed five plastic trash barrels in the plaza. They contain the Amigos logo and are numbered.
Recycling
The plastic recycling effort continues with volunteers harvesting the bins twice a week. Because of the departure of Gary and Stacy Harr, the committee is looking for a new harvestor. Please contact Vicki Schilling (vickijschilling@yahoo.com) if you can help clean the bins and/or transport the goods to a recycling center.
Membership
The new Amigos banner was displayed and applauded.
A welcome letter has been written and will be sent to all members and then to new members introducing our organization and guiding one through the website. Lupita Meza will assist Jacque Graff with the Spanish translation.
The committee plans to coordinate the Plaza Socials with the annual Fund Raiser.
TShirts
Werner and Dianna Rohde have the Tshirt inventory at their house. They expect more will be ordered before the Fund Raiser in February, 2010.

Schools
The most pressing work needed at the primary school is the improvement of the bathrooms. The committee received an estimate of 7,700 (pesos) from William Bravo, a local plumber/electrician, that includes all of the work except doors on the stalls.
David asked the committee to compile the entire project list when the principal returns from the H1N1 virus break and submit it via email. He also asked the committee to inspect and report on the status of the paver installation and temporary classroom construction. Even though Amigos did not pay for the projects, we were involved with the school's effort to raise money (by selling tickets and supporting their mexican night dinner) to pay for these projects.
Website
Nothing to report.
Security
The committee was asked to provide emergency numbers to the web master for inclusion on the Amigos website.
If there is a fire in town that is causing alarm, contact the Delegado, Nestor Palomera, 322-142-9251. He has proven helpful contacting the fire department.
Drainage
David and Manuel Maassen toured the town with a representative of an independent company and selected four sites for water testing. Within one week, the representative will provide an estimate for his work. The testing results will be a baseline and will not provide methods for remediation, if deemed necessary.
An outstanding project is the cleaning of the waterways in town that allow rain water to drain to the ocean. David hopes the town cleanup project by Semanat will address this issue and will follow up with the committee and the town government when the Semanat project is finished.
Senior Center
There was a meeting between Mitch Schilling, David Graff, Nestor Palomera, and the President of the Senior Center to discuss the reparation of the sewer receptacle. All are in favor of the project, although there is no decision about the type of receptacle to use. Nestor, Mitch, and David co-signed a letter to the county, requesting funding assistance for the project.
Animal Protection
The spay-neuter clinic is scheduled for June 10-13, 2009 in Lo de Marcos. It will be held at La Casa de Los Ninos. Ana Embury-Lewis is trying to find (donated) lodging and meals for the doctors and volunteers. Please contact her at anadelodemarcos@gmail.com or 327-275-0235 if you can help.
There is a new veterinary clinic in Sayulita called Sayulita Animales.
Health Clinic
All projects are finished for the year.
It was approved by the members present to allow voting via email for the repair projects at the primary school. Because the originally targeted projects were completely funded by the school's mexican night, and because Amigos considers the school one of its main focuses, substitution of projects and voting via email are allowed for this budget cycle. Votes will be counted if received within one week of the email notice. Stay tuned.
A new chairperson has been named for next year's Fund Raiser. Molly Kenny has experience and training with fund raising and is a homeowner and yoga retreat organizer in Lo de Marcos. She believes in community involvement and would like to see the event continue into the evening with music and auctions. If you'd like to participate on this project (a temporary committee), please send an email to info@amigosdelodemarcos.org.
A representative from Semarnat is looking for volunteers in the effort to protect turtle eggs with safe nests on the Lo de Marcos beach. This item was barely noted and more information is needed. If you have information, please contact Jacque Graff at (jacque23graff@yahoo.com) and she will update these minutes.
It seems the recently constructed public bathrooms on the beach are not open and neither are the bathrooms in the plaza. Amigos officers will investigate.
Twenty-one people attended the meeting including seven officers of Amigos.
