Minutes of General Meeting
June 8, 2010

Welcome

  • Our meeting was preceded by a social hour in which people arrived at their leisure, munched on chips and salsa and french fries, and chatted with other attendees. Antonio (of Mariscos Lara) prepared food as requested. When the meeting began, all were welcomed.

Old Business

Treasurer's Report

  • Our current balance is approximately $10,000p.
  • A Treasurer's Report as well as a Project Status Report will be prepared soon. Expect postings on the Amigos website by the end of June. Also, Chairpeople will receive an email from David requesting expenditures on your projects.

Delegado / President Report

  • Nestor Palomera gave David information about hurricane response as well as a list of locations in the Riviera Nayarit region that have been identified as safe places in case of hurricane. The area is expecting 15 (or so) hurricanes this year, more than in the past. The information was distributed to those in attendance.

Recently, Nestor relayed a request from the Secondary School of Lo de Marcos for assistance in funding a senior trip. The request was for $2000p. The Amigos Officers decided not to fulfill the request because it was for a select group of students and was not a long term project.

Committee Reports

  • Schools

  • Health Clinic

  • Drainage

The recent water testing report was given to Nestor Palomera and Victor Carrillo.

  • Animal Protection and Control

  • Security

David will finalize the report of emergency phone numbers that was begun by this committee. Watch for it's posting on the Amigos website.

  • Community Outreach

Circo de Carton was received with great enthusiasm during the final Social in the Plaza for the 2009-2010 season. Thanks are again extended to all who helped, especially to Ralph Sima for providing the stage lighting and to David Graff for preparing the dinner that served the performance group.

  • Senior Center

A bit of money has been expended to sponsor the Senior meals.

  • Recycle

Batteries can be recycled at the Happy Go store next to the Pemex Station in Lo de Marcos. Support the service by delivering your spent batteries to any store attendant.

Every week, four jumbo bags of recyclable plastic are collected in Lo de Marcos. On Thursday, June 10, the truck is coming to haul our collection to the next point in the recycle process. We have 40 jumbo bags waiting. Patrick Murphy made a pulley system that will ease the hauling and dumping of the bags.

  • Garbage

All but ten barrels have been deployed around town. The remaining ten are held in reserve.

Several matching recycle bins are needed to complete the deployment.

  • Sports

  • Officers Discretionary Fund
