The recommendations of the Amigos de Lo de Marcos Garbage Committee have not been voted on or approved by the general membership. This is the status of what the committee is working on and the issues it is addressing. Please feel free to provide feedback on any items in this report.

Our Goal:
To help make our town the cleanest in Riviera Nayarit.

The first thing on our list of things to do is to contact other associations with similar problems.

  • La Penita-Sayulita-San Pancho.
  • Find out what they’ve done and what they are working on (review websites as well).
  • Ask to meet with them over lunch and gather important contacts in government, if possible.
  • Finally, ask if there are items we can mutually work on after digesting all the facts.

Things we will need.

  • 100 more plastic trash cans for the town.
  • Note: We can acquire more cans through donations from corporations, government, and fund-raisers.
  • 10 dump sites, to hold 9-10 cans each, with proper slab, sides, roof, and gates.
  • Note: We will need to work with the Delagado, or property owner for easement. We will work with contractors for labor. The contractor’s compensation will be signs advertising their business over each dump site that they build.
  • Temporary dump site.
  • Note: We will need to ask for private or government help.

Construction waste.

  • Find dump sites.
  • Note: Juan and Manuel are working on this already.
  • Regulate where waste is dumped and how and when it will be covered up by owners.
  • Work with all the contractors in the area to help develop a sensible program.

General cleanup of all areas.

  • Clean current waterways of construction and organic waste.
  • Note: We can ask for donation of government machinery from the Bahia de Banderas for this project. We will donate our own operators.
  • Put in new culverts where needed.
  • Gravel for roads with large stones on them. Gravel and grading for some of our worst roads.

Note: We realize that the last item is more environmental than garbage, but it’s timely before the rains.
