Drainage Report to General Meeting

Water testing was done on April 13, 2011, the first of three tests scheduled for this year. Sites tested were the ocean, the lagoon in the middle of town, the lagoon on the north side of town, and the city water.

The ocean water and the lagoon in the middle of town tested suitable for recreational use that is full contact (e.g. swimming).

The lagoon on the north side of town tested suitable for recreational use that is low contact (e. g. wading).

The city water tested clean for general use, but not necessarily for drinking water.

Fecal coliform levels from Amigos' tests are reported as follows, per 100ml:

Water samples were collected at points beyond the water’s edge where the water depth was one meter. The water samples were taken at a point 30 cm beneath the water’s surface. Two samples were taken from each location and the date/time recorded. The samples were sent to La Penita and forwarded to a lab in Tepic.


The following chart was obtained from a website that reports of the water conditions of Lake Chapala, inland Mexico.
